Over time, exposure to food, drinks (especially coffee, tea, soda, and red wine), and smoking will gradually darken recently whitened teeth. But there are steps you can take to maintain your smile. The small effort invested in keeping them as bright as possible is nothing compared to the money and/or time required for teeth whitening treatment.

Below are some tips to keep your teeth white:

– Use whitening toothpaste to remove stains and prevent yellowing of the teeth;

– Brush or rinse your teeth immediately after consuming foods or drinks that may stain them;

– Use a straw to consume beverages that can stain your teeth, such as: coffee, tea, soft drinks and red wine;

– Use a bright lipstick shade based on blue or pink. This will give your teeth a whiter appearance. Avoid using orange or brown tones;

– Check if your teeth need a touch-up. Depending on the whitening method used, a touch-up after six months, a year, or two may be necessary. If you smoke or drink a lot of coffee, you may need a touch-up more frequently.
